This rollerball pen features a silky smooth fine line (approximately 0.6 mm) and 18K gold-plated brass fittings. While some makers produce pens with small pieces of mother of pearl, we at Xezo believe that the difficulty and cost it takes to use saltwater Tahitian mother of pearl of this size and quality creates a stunning effect that is well worth all the work it involves. We use shells of white oceanic mother of pearl and Tahitian black mother of pearl with a hardness of 4.5 on the Mohs scale (as hard as steel). Long panels of this precious material were carefully measured, cut, placed, and polished by hand to create a perfectly smooth and seamlessly round surface.
